Support Mia with kidney surgery and recovery.

Hi! My name is Mia. I am from Venezuela but moved to the United States when I was 10. I am now 18, and let me tell you a little bit about my health story. For 18 years, all I knew is that I was healthy and never had anything “wrong” with me, meaning no allergies to medicine, and all of my body parts were working just fine.

One day in September, I was babysitting, then suddenly, an hour after dinner, I started to throw up everything I had eaten for that day. We didn’t think much of it until I started to throw up again a day later. We rushed to the ER. We discovered that I have hydronephrosis of my right kidney. Now, what does that mean? It means that I have a blockage that doesn’t let my right kidney function as well as my left one. Turns out, I need to get surgery to get my right kidney taken out.

These last 2 months have been so hard on me and my mom. It’s just constant throwing up, ER visits, nausea, and testing done. I’m always trying to look at the positive and still live my life. Even if I can’t overwork myself or anything, I still wake up and put a smile on my face. Thank you so much for listening to my story.
