Mia Gomez has been a student assistant coach for the College of Idaho men's basketball program the last two years and a shining star on campus. Gomez is the definition of a servant leader and is always giving anything she has to others. She has been a HUGE asset to our basketball program and as we like to tell her, "shes one of the boys" :)
Gomez is by far the strongest individual I have ever met. She has endured a tremendous amount of adversity throughout her life and has always responded with a positive attitude. Gomez is an Army Veteran that was severely hurt during training. Her injury included a year in a wheel chair, many surgeries and countless days of pain. Gomez fought through all of this to return to college and begin her journey to her bachelors degree. Unfortunately she had to withdraw from college during the fall of 2019 due to the continued pain from her injuries. She planned to return to college this year, however, her mother was in a recent accident and passed away. Gomez has taken over the legal guardianship of her 14 year old brother and is in the process of trying to find a bigger apartment for them to both live in, while also trying to figure out his schooling and their day to day operations.
Gomez needs our help! Gomez is a proud College of Idaho Yote, an Army Veteran, active in our local motorcycle community and more. She is TOUGH, She is BRIGHT and most of all, SHE IS ONE OF OURS. Please consider donating to help with funeral services and the cost of supporting her younger brother.
