Support Mia Camila’s Fight Against Lupus Cerebritis

Hi, we are Yokasta & David, parents of Mia Camila, a beautiful high school junior, and we are reaching out with humble hearts to ask for help for our daughter and our family.

On Friday, January 2, our lives changed completely. Mia Camila was airlifted by helicopter from Fort Myers to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami after Mononucleosis (Epstein-Barr Virus) triggered a severe condition called Lupus Cerebritis, a serious neurological complication of lupus.

As a result, Mia Camila lost mobility in her legs and is currently unable to walk, paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors have explained that her recovery will be long and slow, requiring intensive physical and occupational therapy.

Mia Camila is currently hospitalized in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) under constant monitoring. She is undergoing Plasmapheresis, a treatment similar to dialysis, along with lupus-specific therapy, high-dose steroids, and strong antibiotics, all under close medical supervision.

Miami is approximately two hours from our home, and due to the severity of her condition, our entire family has had to relocate temporarily to be by her side. Both of us have had to take time off work, creating significant financial strain from lodging, transportation, food, and medical-related expenses.

✨ Who is Mia Camila?
Mia Camila is a joyful, talented 16-year-old junior in high school who loves singing, dancing, and acting. Musical theater is her passion, and her dream is to attend college to study musical theater. She is kind, responsible, full of light, and truly the daughter every parent dreams of.

Today, she is facing the hardest battle of her life, but we believe in her strength, the medical team caring for her, and God’s perfect timing.

Any donation, big or small, will help us cover the expenses of this unexpected medical journey and allow us to focus fully on Mia Camila’s recovery. If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign means the world to us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
