Help support a DePaul MFA thesis film, Nostalgia, directed by Jarius Nelson-Mealy.
Logline: After the sudden death of his girlfriend, a tightly wound marketing executive discovers a mysterious bakery where enchanted pastries allow him to relive memories with her. But as he indulges, the line between memory and reality fractures, pulling him deeper into a psychological spiral that threatens to consume his present life entirely.
From the director:
"I’ve been working on it for two years now, and it’s been a real challenge figuring out how to shape this idea into something that works as a short film, but I’m glad I stayed with it long enough to find a version that feels right. I also think it’s important to talk about how we process grief, how it shows up, lingers, and shifts over time. The ending is intentionally bittersweet and realistic, and my hope is that people can connect with my main character’s journey in a way that maybe helps them reflect on their own."
