We are coming together to support one of our own during an incredibly difficult time.

James is a first-year firefighter who has already made a strong impact. He is dedicated, hardworking, genuinely kind, and brings a positive attitude every single day. He shows up for others without hesitation.

Today, he and his family need that same support.

James and his wife, Maddie, were delighted to hear that she was pregnant last year, but she was soon diagnosed with Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (breast cancer). With this diagnosis, through 2025 they have navigated treatments, surgeries, and overall health challenges. As this new year begins, they are now preparing to welcome their baby, while also facing the emotional, physical, and financial challenges that come with cancer treatment. After the baby is delivered, his wife will then undergo more surgery and treatment to battle her diagnosis. As one can imagine, the Takacs family is having to balance the wonderful news of an addition to their family while still ensuring his wife continues to receive the necessary medical treatment.

Funds raised through this GoFundMe will help offset medical expenses, time away from work, baby formula, and essential needs for their newborn. A baby registry is attached for those who would like to support the family in that way as well.

Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference. If you are unable to donate financially, there will be an opportunity in the near future to donate leave time to support him and his family during this period.
