In January, our dear friend Merrilee Jarvis was diagnosed with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Over time, ALS makes it very difficult to walk, talk, eat, and eventually breathe, all while the mind remains fully aware. There is currently no cure. Merrilee has faced this heartbreaking diagnosis with courage and grace, but it is unfortunately progressing rapidly and the challenges ahead are immense.

Anyone that is lucky enough to know Merrilee knows she is a devoted wife, a faithful church member, and an extraordinary mother to five children—two of whom are still at home, with the youngest just 15 years old. She has also been blessed with two beautiful granddaughters and loves being a grandmother. Merrilee has spent her life lifting others through her service, love, and faith. Now she and her family need our help. They are facing significant expenses to make their home wheelchair-accessible, purchase special furniture that allows her to sit comfortably, potentially obtain a handicap-accessible vehicle, and cover medical costs.

This fundraiser is a way for us to ease some of the financial burden so Merrilee and her family can focus on what truly matters—being together and creating lasting memories during this tender and sacred time.
