Mercy is a 14-month-old Cane Corso pup with a lot of orthopedic issues, the biggest concern being her hips. Mercy has severe bilateral hip dysplasia with secondary changes and osteoarthritis. On top of this, she has bilateral luxating patellas and severe bilateral elbow dysplasia (UAP and medial coronoid disease). She is only on a daily NSAID, 3 supplements, and monthly Adequan injections. Despite her afflictions, Mercy is a very happy dog with a zest for life that has kept me motivated throughout this journey.
Mercy has been going to NC State College of Veterinary Medicine for all of her orthopedics, and we found out she was a great candidate for a THR (Total Hip Replacement)! We would start with her more affected hip, her left, and then later do her right hip. THRs, for a lack of better terms, "cure" hip dysplasia. Getting two THRs would eliminate ALL hip pain and would significantly decrease the amount of pressure on Mercy's forelimbs, thus making her elbow dysplasia less painful and easier to manage.
We are happy to say that Mercy is scheduled for March 25th, 2025, for her first hip replacement. Unfortunately, THRs are very pricey, which is why I am here today. One hip costs $11,000, and we are looking to raise as much money as possible. Any amount helps, and we will be grateful for anything. Please share this GoFundMe with anyone you can. Thank you for reading Mercy's story; we will keep this updated!!
