We recently learned that every 8th grader in Merced, California, is expected to attend a graduation trip to Six Flags in Vallejo this June. The total cost is $130 per student, covering bus fare, lunch, drink, and admission. However, many families simply can't afford it.
Merced is a small rural town where financial hardship is a reality for many families. From 2019 to 2023, the median household income in Merced was $59,938, with a per capita income of $26,140. Alarmingly, 23% of the population lived in poverty.
Can you imagine how these 14-year-olds feel when they are left behind while their friends celebrate together?
We reached out to all four middle schools in Merced, and they each identified 10 students in need of support. That means we need to raise: $130 x 4 schools x 10 students = $5,200.
“We All Go: Grad Trip for Everyone” refuses to let financial barriers determine which adolescents can celebrate this important milestone. We are committed to ensuring that every 8th grader, regardless of financial circumstances, has the opportunity to attend and enjoy this special day with their peers
Your support goes directly to the cause, helping local youth belong, celebrate, and create lasting memories.
PLEASE HELP THEM.
With gratitude,
We All Go: Grad Trip Ticket for Everyone.
