Support mental health through the Samaritans
Tax deductible
I am here, simply, to try to raise not only funds to support the work that the Samaritans do but to also raise awareness.
I am going to tell you my story (not for sympathy but for insight)!
Since a very young age I have suffered greatly with my mental health, from eating problems to emotional regulation issues to psychotic breaks.
I have spent most of my adult life locked away in psychiatric facilities, I have been at the depths of despair!
I have made multiple suicide attempts which have landed me in very serious situations. I have spent a long time bound to a wheelchair and walking aids due to this. I have spent more time than I'd like to think about connected to drips and tubes to save my life.
I have simply wanted to die.
However, things are changing! My life is on the up and I think it's about time I gave back.
The Samaritans are a great cause- which I have used myself multiple times and I know others which have too.
They're staffed primarily by volunteers who want to help people in crisis.
Mental health is such a large part of our lives, however, it is still not treat as such.
I am ready to do by bit! I am still in the planning stages of events, however, I have signed up for the 3 peaks Yorkshire (I want to do this to show that even after being told you won't walk after such an ordeal that I can and I will!)
I have also signed up to abseil off the transporter bridge (this is the hardest for me as my most serious suicide attempt was off a bridge and I have taken myself to the transporter many times to end my life so to do this safely and for the right cause I honestly think I can overcome these thoughts).
Donations would be great however what I'm more focused on here is raising awareness around mental health and suicide so if I can do anything here it is to say that the Samaritans are there to talk to 24/7 365 days a year! Please use them.
Thank you,
Jodie x
