Support Men's Mental Health Through Film
Donation protected
Men's mental health is a taboo subject in the U.S. In spite of recent advances in mental health services and the increasing normalization of medication and therapy, many men suffer in silence under the thought that asking for help, much less acknowledging the existence of the disease, is not masculine.
My goal as a filmmaker is to create spaces for men to feel safe, seen, and acknowledged in our mental health struggles. My first film, Panic! Attack!, told the story of a man whose anxiety was making him perceive his partner as increasingly antagonistic, even violent, demonstrating how people living with severe anxiety feel like they cannot trust their own perception of the world. My new film, tentatively titled Deadbolt, is about a man whose OCD manifests as obsessively checking the locks in his house, trying to keep the inevitable out.
I have cast the film and am so lucky to partner with Fun Pants Film Co for this project. We have cast Josh Zettlemoyer and Emma Littig in the film, two very talented actors who will be shooting with us overnight in Scranton in early July. Your contribution to this campaign will help cover their pay plus their stay in Scranton and will help us submit Deadbolt to film festivals. Anyone who contributes will have their name in the credits as a thank you.
