My name is Melson, and I am reaching out for support as I prepare for gender affirming surgery. This step is deeply personal for me—it's about aligning my internal identity with my external self, and also about finding acceptance in society. Beyond the physical transformation, this surgery is a crucial safety measure, helping to protect me from being targeted simply for being who I am.

The journey to this point has not been easy, and the financial aspect is a significant challenge. I have not yet met my insurance deductible, so the cost of surgery is a major hurdle. Additionally, my job is physically demanding, and I will be unable to work for at least six weeks during my recovery. While I focus on healing, bills and everyday expenses will continue to add up, making this time even more stressful.

I have never really asked for public help before, but the time is now. This surgery means more to me than just the cosmetic side—it will be life changing, confidence building, and will greatly reduce my risk of being targeted. I just want to live freely as myself.
