Mel is currently facing one of the toughest battles of his life after being diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) over this past weekend. The diagnosis came as a shock to us all, and we are still coming to terms with the news. He is now beginning intensive chemotherapy at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco, where he will be hospitalized for several weeks. While the road ahead will be challenging, we are staying hopeful and focused on supporting Mel through his treatment. As the sole provider for their household, Mel’s illness has created new financial and emotional challenges for the family, but we are determined to stand by his side every step of the way.

Mel is truly the heart and rock of our family. He's loving, passionate, and strong, and always there for us through every hardship. In every conversation, Mel shares his wisdom and thoughtful insights, offering guidance and support to those around him. His caring nature and determination have made him a pillar not just for our family, but for everyone who has had the privilege to know him.

From the moment we met Mel, he instantly became a source of light and stability in our lives. He stepped into our family and filled a space we didn’t even realize was missing, offering unwavering support and love through every challenge. Mel’s presence brought us closer together and helped us heal, and he quickly became the rock we could all lean on. Now, as Mel faces his own battle with ALL, it’s our turn to be his rock.

The costs are overwhelming: medical bills, travel expenses for Kathy to visit from Eureka, and everyday bills and food while Mel is unable to work. Despite the fear and uncertainty, Mel remains positive and determined, reminding us all that every bit of support will help him fight through this.
