HELP SUPPORT MELODY’S FUNERAL COSTS

Aloha family and friends - With heavy hearts we mourn the passing of Melody Ohumukini-Hoskinson. She was a Mother, sister, cousin, wife, and hands down your best friend. Born and raised in California and eventually settling in Iowa, Melody welcomed any and all into her home, raised and supported you without reservation, and never asked for anything in return. She simply loved helping those around her and bringing joy into our lives whether you knew her for a minute or a lifetime. She passed on August 2nd, 2025, shortly after wishing her late Aunty Del a happy birthday on Facebook. In typical fashion, Melody decided to also go tell her Aunty Del happy birthday in person, and went to Heaven to do so.

If you’re on this GoFundMe page, Melody probably changed your life in some way, shape, or form. While her life was short, her love transcends and persists beyond any measurable time we have here on this Earth. She excelled in the hospitality field for a reason - She loved all and wanted to be loved. She was the kind of person that would remember your name, your occupation, your family’s names, your hobbies, and when she would be seeing you next, all within the first few minutes of meeting you. If you didn’t know her when you arrived, you would know her by the time you left and you would never forget her. Her charisma was unmatched and her love was magnetic; We all wanted to be wherever Melody was.

Unfortunately Melody’s life insurance and other benefits ended approximately 2 months prior to her passing, so all of her preparation for this moment never became reality. We’ve created this GoFundMe to assist with those costs along with some others.

CALIFORNIA CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Melody loved parties and prior to her passing she requested that we celebrate her by spreading her ashes as well as throwing a party in her name. We one upped her and held one in Iowa at her favorite lake - Clear Lake - and wish to hold one in her home state around the time of her birthday.

One of her closest cousins, Jadeen, has graciously offered to host the celebration of life at her home near Coffey Park in Santa Rosa on Saturday, September 20th just one day after Melody’s birthday. It’s the perfect time to get together and reminisce and celebrate Melody’s wonderful and exciting life. If you are within driving distance please come enjoy an unforgettable reunion of friends and family.
