Melody and her family have faced an unimaginable series of hardships, and her friends and colleagues are reaching out for help during the most difficult time of their lives. In October 2023, Melody’s family lost their home to a devastating electrical fire. They are still waiting for the insurance claim to be resolved, leaving them in a long and uncertain rebuilding process.
Then, in just a matter of weeks, Melody’s family experienced two serious medical emergencies involving her children. On December 22, 2025, Melody’s son was involved in a severe car accident when the vehicle he was riding in was T-boned on his side. He required hospitalization and was later transferred to a rehabilitation facility for continued care. On January 4, 2026, Melody’s daughter suffered a traumatic brain injury while playing in a volleyball tournament in Philadelphia and was hospitalized at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment.
Just weeks later, on January 27, 2026, Melody herself was diagnosed with two different types of invasive breast cancer in the same breast. On March 2, she underwent a mastectomy, and in two weeks she will have DIEP flap reconstruction surgery, followed by one year of chemotherapy treatment. Melody is the sole provider for her children, and the medical bills, travel for treatment, and everyday living expenses are quickly becoming overwhelming as they try to focus on healing.
Melody works exhaustively to support her family and always goes out of her way for colleagues and friends. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference for Melody and her family. If you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser would mean so much. Thank you for helping Melody’s family get through this incredibly difficult time.
