Support Melody Bracy's Medical Recovery

We are asking for our community’s help. Melody Bracy is a qualified mental health professional and Peer Support Specialist. She has worked in the mental health field for over 35 years. Since 2016, she has worked at Physician Alliance for Mental Health in different aspects, and her current role is the Peer Support Services Team Lead. Unfortunately, over the last year and a half, her health has deteriorated. She had gastrointestinal surgeries in March and September 2023. The first one in March was to remove a hole that had existed in her stomach for a number of years undetected until she started having symptoms of a problem. The one in September was due to complications from the one in March. Despite all efforts and interventions, she continued to have complications associated with these surgeries. Basically, she is unable to get the vitamins and nutrients her body needs. She continues to have issues with absorption and even eating because she is unable to keep food down. Therefore, she needs another surgery but is working to become strong enough to have that surgery. She is on TPN, which is feeding her through a PICC line. This allows her to get the vitamins and nutrition her body needs to get stronger. Her medical team is unsure how long she will have to get this treatment. But with everything, there are side effects associated, including significant swelling and very low blood pressure. She has been unable to work since starting this treatment on September 24, 2024. Prior to this, she worked 40 hours a week.

For years, Melody has made a significant contribution to helping an underserved and neglected part of our community receive the treatment they need and be an advocate for their wellness. She has been a voice for those who would otherwise not be heard. She has given selflessly, and we are now asking that our community support her in her time of need. Her medical expenses are increasing rapidly along with ancillary expenses that come with not working and needing more support at home. Please help us help one of our own get back on her feet medically and financially. We have a goal of collecting $10,000 to support her and her family.
