Support Mely’s Recovery After Accident

Hello, I am a friend of Mely coming on here to help set up a gofundme in order for her stay afloat during her recovery process in the hospital/rehabilitation center and help stay up to date on bills, necessities that will be needed in her home during her recovery process ( once released from rehabilitation center) and any personal care needs while she’s in the hospital/center, since she is unable to work during this process of recovery.

On November 11th, 2024 Mely and her cat Yumeko were involved in a car accident on I495 where she was ejected from the sunroof of the vehicle. She sustained multiple injuries including, cervical fracture, fracture of the frontal bone, fracture of second cervical vertebra, confusion with loss of consciousness, decreased activities of daily living, decreased functional mobility, decreased visual acuity (permanently blinded in her left eye), forhead laceration, fracture of left zygomatic arch, impaired cognition, laceration of groin, maxillary sinus fracture, mobility impaired, multiple abrasions, orbit fracture, scalp hematoma, traumatic hematoma of thigh. She has multiple fractures to her skull, spine, and neck, and suffered severe trauma to her thighs due to road rash where majority of her tissue was determined to be dead.

Mely is currently still hospitalized and undergoing surgeries for her thighs, they had to remove all of the dead cells/skin and she currently has sponge in place of what they’ve removed so far. It will be a while before she can move on to a rehabilitation center and from there it’s going to be a long road of recovery for her, where she is going to relearn to walk, and rebuild her strength again. We’re hoping to raise funds so she doesn’t lose her apartment in the process and has one less thing to stress about. She lives independently and will not be returning to work for a while.

Thank you to anyone who supports her during this time, it means more than you know and she is very appreciative of all the help and prayers that she is currently recieving. Her cat Yumi has been found since the accident and is under great care.
