Support Mell through breast cancer

**Update**

Due to the overwhelming generosity from everyone in the first day of opening this fundraiser, Mell would like to put a hold on receiving any further donations. Mell is so so appreciative of everyone's contribution so far and will keep everyone posted on how she plans on spending the funds.

Our beautiful friend Mell has recently been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer, which has also spread to her lymph nodes. Due to the aggressiveness of the cancer, treatment has started immediately. It includes 5 months of chemotherapy, surgery and another 6 months of targeted treatment.

Known for her strength and pragmatism, there is no doubt that Mell will get through this journey like the stoic powerhouse that she is. However, the unexpected diagnosis and immediate commencement of treatment has been a huge shock for Mell, Pat and their gorgeous one-year-old, Lachie.

This journey will involve significant financial hardship. Apart from the cost of medication, wigs, specialist fees, surgery and all the unforeseen expenses associated with treatment, Mell will not be able to work during this time. Contributing to this GoFundMe will help alleviate some of the financial pressure and allow Mell and Pat to use the funds for anything that they need during this process.

The irony of the situation is not lost on us: Mell is the first person to help others and has worked as an oncology pharmacist for years. She is so gentle and caring with her patients, often taking the time to learn their stories and encourage them through the process. Among her friends, she is always the first to lend a hand. Moving house, painting walls, dropping off a home-cooked meal or a thoughtful gift, Mell is always the first one to offer help. Now is our chance to help her!
