Support Melissa's Urgent Medical Journey

Hi guys,

This is the absolute last thing I want to be doing, but I am out of options and out of ideas. For those who have known me awhile, you know that I have been in & out of hospitals and operating rooms quite literally my entire life. It seems like once one problem gets solved a new one arises. This latest issue is by far the scariest one I have faced. I have been hospitalized twice in a month & a half, & I can tell today that I am heading for number 3. I have a severe infection in my ethmoid sinus cavity that ate through the bone & has gotten to my eye socket. I am not only at risk of losing my eye, but am at very serious risk of blood & brain infections. I will need a pretty intense surgery, which cannot happen until the infection gets under control. The antibiotics that this infection is responsive to just happen to be the ones that I have bad reactions to, but I have to be on them despite the hell they put my body through. I have missed quite a great deal of work because of this, and will be missing a whole lot more, and I am completely out of paid time off. And unfortunately, Pennsylvania does not offer short term disability benefits - neither does my insurance. I need to be able to take the time off to see specialists to get this under control, followed by time off for surgery & recovery, and I have NO idea how I am going to afford to do so. This has derailed my entire life, every aspect of it. I by no means want anyone to feel pressured to help me, but my friends have suggested I make one of these, and, well, what else can I do at this point?
