On June 19, 2025, Melissa had a bilateral mastectomy. Melissa has been getting mammograms and MRI alternating every 6 months since she was 26 years old. Due to her breast density. Through the years her chances of getting breast cancer has risen to 97% in her lifetime. In March 2025 they found two lumps in her left breast. Her and Justin decided to be proactive and opted for a bilateral mastectomy that Dr. Jendro At Bryan Breast Surgical Specialist highly encouraged and successful performed on Thursday June 19th. This has not been an easy month for Melissa and her family. Melissa will not be able to return to work for several more months expected to be released for light duty in October or November. Even with Justin working full time, this has been a big financially stress on melissa and her family. Melissa has been having some complications; swelling in her chest and hematoma where her drain tubes were located. Melissa’s doctor is in Lincoln and occupational therapy is in Crete. She is putting a lot of miles on her car and with the cost of gas getting to and from appointments as well as Justin missing work to drive her and support her. Melissa has been my best friend for 29 years. She is the type of person to give the shirt off her back for anyone. I want to help her, Justin, and the kids during this difficult time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donation and support no matter how big or small. ♥️
