Melissa, my friend, was involved in a devastating hit and run on March 17, 2026. The accident left her with eight broken ribs, a broken scapula, a brain bleed, and a serious wound to the top of her foot. Her only means of transportation was destroyed in the crash. Melissa spent 19 days in the hospital, enduring surgery to repair her ribs with metal plates. The pain she has faced is unimaginable, and the road to recovery has been long and difficult. She has lost her ability to work and is now facing a severe financial setback on top of her physical injuries.

Melissa recently returned to work as a 1099 employee, but she is not making enough to even cover her rent or basic living expenses.
