My life has always been shaped by liver disease. From a young age, I participated in experimental treatments to help cure Hepatitis C, and in 2013, I was fortunate enough to be cured. It was an incredible feeling to know that my journey contributed to the health of others. Despite this victory, my liver disease continued to progress, and over the years, my health has declined. I am now on a regimen of multiple medications and have developed several secondary conditions that make it impossible for me to work. In recent years, I have been in and out of the hospital, and the financial strain has grown as my ability to earn an income has disappeared.
Recently, I received notice from the Mayo Clinic that I qualify for a liver transplant and am officially on the waiting list for a living or deceased donor. The uncertainty of when I will receive the call is difficult, and we are passionately praying for a living donor with blood type B or O, aged 18-60. If you are interested in learning more about donation, please contact the Mayo Transplant Center at Mayo Clinic.org/livingdonor. In the meantime, the costs of medical follow-ups, transportation, and daily living expenses during my year-long pre- and post-transplant recovery are overwhelming. Your support will help me focus on healing and getting back to a normal life.
I am incredibly grateful for my husband Mike, who has been my rock throughout this journey. He knows when I need a hospital stay before I do and is always there for my good and bad days. Our family has been wonderful, checking in and supporting us every step of the way. I would never have started this fundraiser without the encouragement of my sister-in-law. Thank you for reading my story and considering a donation. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to us as we navigate this challenging time.
