My best friend, Melissa, is a 39-year young hard-working single mom of 2 girls. She has been working hard in the insurance industry for the last 15 years and taking care of the girls on her own. Just a few months ago, Melissa was able to purchase their first forever home.

When her 6-year-old daughter's elementary school decided to not return for in-person education, Melissa was faced with a dilemma many single parents have struggled with during the pandemic. She could continue to watch her Lilly struggle with online learning or take a leave of absence and tend to her daughter. Melissa decided to take a few weeks off until Lilly’s school resumed in-person sessions.
Having what seemed like a temporary break in a busy professional life, Melissa took the opportunity to finally have a check-up and talk to her primary care doctor about a nagging pain in her right arm. She was given the option at her exam for a routine mammogram. Melissa thought, “why not? I probably won’t have time when I go back to work.”
After she had the routine mammogram, her life was turned upside down. A suspicious lump was found, a biopsy done, and the result was what no one really expects to hear, invasive ductal carcinoma.
Melissa has breast cancer.
While the doctors are optimistic and Melissa is certainly a fighter, she has the added complication of being the sole provider for her family and being out of work. She has a long road ahead with surgery, radiation, hormone therapy, and possibly chemotherapy.
It is early in the process and the future is uncertain. Financial insecurity need not be an insult added to injury.
The doctors will work on curing her. Melissa will work hard at healing.
Her daughters are her purpose.

We, her friends, and supporters can take care of their financial needs until Melissa wins this battle just as she has won so many in the past.
We believe God has big things in store for Melissa. We would appreciate anything you could donate to help relieve the financial stress of a mortgage, and life expenses, so Melissa can focus on beating breast cancer and continue to care for her daughters!
All donations will go directly to the family and are tax-deductible.
