Support Melissa During John’s Transplant Recovery

We are raising funds to support Melissa during an incredibly difficult and emotional season.

On November 10th, Melissa’s husband, John, received a kidney transplant. While we are grateful for this life-saving surgery, his recovery has included several complications that require ongoing care and extended time in Iowa City. To be by John’s side and help with his recovery, Melissa will be taking FMLA, which significantly reduces her income.

As if that were not enough, just eight days later on November 18th, Melissa’s mother passed away. Between caring for John, grieving the loss of her mom, and being away from work far more than she ever expected, Melissa has been unable to work the hours she normally would.

This GoFundMe is to help ease the financial burden during this time—covering lost wages, travel expenses, lodging, meals, and everyday bills—so Melissa can focus on what matters most: supporting John’s healing and taking care of herself as she grieves.
