Support Melissa through brain cancer treatment

Hi, my name is Jessica Balogh and I'm fundraising for my beautiful sister, Melissa Irving.

This will be Melissa's second battle with Cancer. Back in March of 2020, she was diagnosed with aggressive Breast Cancer and underwent an initial 6 rounds of Chemotherapy, where she lost all of her hair. She then went on to have a mastectomy done in September 2020. It was unfortunately decided by her Oncology team that she would need an editional 13 rounds of Chemotherapy.

She was only able to complete 10 of 13 rounds due to complications and the need for several blood transfusions.

Fast forward to summer of 2022 where she started to suffer from debilitating migraines and starting back to work.

The night of December 2022 was where it all went downhill. She wasn't feeling well and had to leave work early. Bot able to drive herself home, had to have a colleague bring her home. Shortly after getting home, did her daughter, Courtney and father notice something not right.

She was delusional, thinking she was back in school, not knowing who or where she was, not making any sense and vomiting on herself.

Terrified, my father calls an ambulance for her.

We received the worst possible news a few days of being in the hospital, after several tests, it was determined she has a brain tumor.

Things seemed to move very fast from this point on and she went to have her tumor removed on December 30, 2022.

She has had many, many tests and appointments, hospital stays and will officially be starting Radiation therapy on February 7, 2023.

We thought that okay, this is it, we got a hang on this. Unfortunately to find out there is another tumor located in her right-frontal lobe. Her Radiation Oncologist is hopeful that Radiation treatment will shrink it to a point surgery is not needed.

After her Radiation, Chemotherapy will be the next step, but we have yet to hear about that plan yet. Another unfortunate fact is that there is not Radiation therapy offered close to home, therefore she will need to travel to Halifax ro complete these treatments. This incures a lot of cost, and due to not being able to work, Melissa really needs your support!
