We are Joseph and Laminda Lawyer. We are raising funds to help one of our daughters, Melinda Grey. On June 4, 2026, while away in Houston, Texas, attending the home going celebration of a loved one, we received a call from the emergency room at the hospital alerting us that Melinda had been admitted. The Graham, Washington Fire Department was dispatched at 1:48am in the morning. Melinda was the lone victim that had to be pulled out, unconscious, from the burning flames of the house she was living in. She suffered significant burn injuries. Four others living in the home all made it out safely. Unfortunately, Melinda sustained over 20 percent of burns over her body. She is currently in critical condition but stable as she fights for her life. Melinda has lost all of her assets, attempting to live on her own. There is no idea of how long it will take for her to recover, as she is still in ICU. She will be living with us when she is eventually discharged and will need to rebuild her life. We most definitely will do all we can as parents. However, Melinda will have medical and personal needs. We will update her progress as things change. This event has drastically changed her life and will impact her future. We sincerely appreciate any donations towards her care and the rebuilding of her life that anyone feels in their hearts to do. We believe in the healing power of God and are trusting and praying that she overcomes this tragedy. Update: The doctor shared that there would be a long road ahead for Melinda on today (6/18/26). It was good to see her respond to commands. Our collective prayers can avail much. NOTE: I just saw someone has a Gofundme post on today utilizing Melinda's injury to enhance their story when they have NO plans to have the money go to Melinda. Integrity and honesty matters.
