Hello Friends and Family,

I’m writing this on behalf of one of my very best friends, Melinda. To know Melinda is to love her, and if you don’t know her yet, well, let me introduce you. We met in the hallways of Cal State Northridge Music Department 20 years ago and forged a friendship in Steel Band class. We instantly “got” each other and knew that it would be a lifelong friendship. We even had sons one month apart in age.

She has her degree in Early Childhood Education and has been working with children for many years. She is truly gifted.

Melinda is bottled sunshine and a friend who’s always ready for an adventure at any moment.

This is why, when she was going through the most difficult time in her life, I offered to run a GoFundMe for her.

Melinda is now a newly single mom to Liam, age 7, and she was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in December 2024. She is an excellent, dedicated mom. She has gone through many rounds of chemo at this point and still has surgery and radiation ahead of her this year. Melinda will not be able to work while she is going through treatment, surgery, and recovery. This entire journey will take almost an entire year of her life.
