Hi everyone,

Our family is coming together to support Melina as she recovers from a sudden and severe lupus flare that caused significant vision loss in both eyes and hearing impairment in one ear. This has been an overwhelming and unexpected time for all of us.

Over the past several days, Melina was hospitalized after experiencing a rapid and frightening loss of vision caused by inflammation affecting the blood vessels in her eyes. Doctors have confirmed this is a serious lupus-related complication that requires aggressive treatment and a long recovery period. While there are early signs of stabilization, recovery can take weeks to months, and her long-term vision outcome remains uncertain.

During this time, Melina is unable to work, care for herself independently, or care for her children. Funds raised will help cover medical expenses not fully covered by insurance, transportation to frequent specialist appointments, basic living costs, and support for her two young children while she recovers.

Melina is incredibly strong, but healing will take time. Right now, her focus is on recovery and adapting to life with limited vision as doctors work to control her lupus and protect her sight.
