My name is Melba, and I am 29 years old. I am battling a rare lung disease called Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), which causes frequent pneumothoraxes (collapsed lungs). Since July 9th, I have been in the ICU due to six pneumothoraxes and urgently need a lung transplant.
I have also suffered five strokes, which has left me legally blind in my right eye. Despite these severe challenges, I am grateful to still be fighting for my life, especially for the sake of my three-year-old son, Jumel, and with the support of my loving family who inspire me every day.
Currently, I am in Puerto Rico, where there are no available lung transplants or surgeons who can assist with my condition. We have depleted our finances with everyday needs while being hospitalized. I am seeking financial assistance for several urgent needs:
Medical Airplane Transport: I need to be transported safely to Tampa General Hospital. The cost of this medical flight is $30,000. This includes:
Medical Transport Team (RN + 1)
Ground Ambulance Transportation (Pickup)
Ground Ambulance Transportation (Drop-Off)
Lodging: To stay near the medical facilities where I can receive care.
Financial Support: To help with the care of my son while I undergo treatment.
Physicians have advised that a regular flight is not an option due to the tube in my chest, which is keeping me alive. I am holding on to hope and faith, believing that God can provide miraculous healing. As it is written in Philippians 4:19, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Your prayers, generosity, and support are a tremendous blessing, giving me hope and strength to continue this fight.
Thank you, and God bless you!
Warm regards,
Melba
