Fuck Cancer Her Fight Is Our Fight Support Melanie MacKenzie

Friends and Family,

As some of you may or may not know my beautiful sister Melanie, has been diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer. If youre wondering this hasnt slowed her down (much), cause shes a power house! If anyone knows Mel youd know how hard working, determined and powerful of a woman she is! So this wouldn't come of a surprise that she has been working steady since she found out in early February that she has cancer. Melanie and her husband have 3 beautiful children Jayden, Kalle and Freya. Together they have a little funny farm with chickens, ducks, cats and a big old baby dog Duke. Mel wishes and soon probably will have more babies at the farm as her heart has always desired!

Melanie has always prioritized making others smile, even while facing this profound challenge.

On February 5th when she met with the OBGYN, they took a biopsy and pap test and revealed she infact has cervical cancer. After finding this out, and being overwhelmed with emotions she had to undergo many more scans such as MRI, CAT scan PET scan and many consultations in Sydney or in Halifax.

These were to find out what stage of cancer and make sure it wasnt anymore anywhere else in the body (which there isnt!!!) All this time she has been awaiting her treatment which begins on April 14th. The road ahead includes 5 extensive weeks of vital radiation everyday while also recieving chemotherapy one a week. For these treatments she will have to travel 2.5hours each way to Sydney. She and her family are hoping she will be able to travel home every night as much as she feels up to, to be able to be in the comfort of her own home surrounded by loved ones. After this is done, she will spend 2 days a week for a the following 2 weeks getting internal radiation. These treatments will be held in Halifax at which point she will need to stay there. As you can imagine all of this is placing a financial strain on her family. We’re asking for your support to help cover rising costs for gas, food, and accommodation during these challenging times, as well as to assist with bills while Melanie is unable to work.
