Hello, my name is Mehran Fanoos, and I am a 22-year-old violinist from Afghanistan.

This August, I will be moving to New York to begin my studies at The Juilliard School as the first musician ever from Afghanistan to be admitted to this prestigious institution, a dream I have worked toward for many years.

I am incredibly grateful to have received a full scholarship covering my tuition at Juilliard. However, I still need financial support to cover the substantial cost of living and studying in New York City, including housing, health insurance, transportation, food, books, musical materials, and other basic necessities. Moving to New York for my studies is a dream come true, but I cannot make this transition without help.

As a student, relocating to one of the world’s most expensive cities comes with financial challenges that are difficult to meet alone. I am doing everything I can to prepare responsibly, but I still need assistance to make this transition possible.
