Mehmet is a cherished friend who is currently facing one of the toughest battles of his life—cancer. As someone who has always been there for his loved ones, Mehmet now needs our help more than ever. His recent surgery was a critical step in his fight, offering hope for a brighter, healthier future with his family: Marcela, Mia, and Arslan.
Learn about Mehmet
For those that don't know him personally, Mehmet came to the USA from Turkey in 2007 after winning the Green Card lottery. Like many of us, he was looking for better life opportunities far away from home.
He worked hard, often multiple jobs including long hours in restaurant kitchens, cutting hair, and driving a ride share. He achieved his American dream, which included getting married to Marcela and having a loving family.
After 3 painful miscarriages, God sent us our beautiful son Arslan who was diagnosed with non verbal autism at age 3.
In recent years Mehmet started to look for answers to life in the Christian Faith, despite being born and raised in Islamic Faith. He started going to Eleven22 Church which has helped carry him during this trying time.
Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with rectal cancer in December 2024. After radiation therapy for 3 months he was declared in remission. Mehmet was baptized May 2025 by Eleven22 Church. Life continued normally until last month, he started showing symptoms again. He underwent major colorectal surgery on March 9.
He is still recovering but we firmly trust God is carrying him and the family through with Faith and Hope. We are firmly hanging on the Christian Faith for his full recovery to come back to his previous life as a loving provider father and husband.
"Life has been difficult since most of our relatives are far away, so we are relying on friends and our Church through these tough times."
The journey ahead is filled with challenges, including ongoing medical treatments, hospital stays, and the cost of essential medications. These expenses can quickly become overwhelming, making it difficult for Mehmet and his family to focus on what matters most—his recovery and well-being.
By coming together as a community, we can help ease this burden. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward Mehmet's medical care and recovery. Your support and prayers mean the world to him and his family.
Please consider contributing and sharing this fundraiser to give Mehmet the best chance at returning to the life he loves.
Keep us in your prayers in Jesus name. Amen. God bless!
