Hello friends and family!

This is quite possibly the hardest thing I have ever done, to ask for help publicly but, at this time I am really in need of some support. I feel embarrassed but I know this is also very humbling for someone who has been extremely independent her whole adult life.

I am about to embark on a new health journey as I will be having a severe, high risk surgery on 11/11/24. I got very sick back in September and was diagnosed with a fistula that has developed between my transverse colon and the back side of my stomach. This is unfortunately caused by my Crohn’s disease. The last two months have been filled with non stop doctor’s appointments, blood work, tests and so on. Next Monday, I will be having the majority of my large intestine removed (the transverse, descending and most of the sigmoid colon). My surgeon may have to repair my stomach if there is any damage to it as well. I will get to come home with what I am going to call a souvenir. But really, it’s just a colostomy bag. As sad as I am about that, I have to believe this is what’s going to be the best option so that way my body has time to heal properly. I was started on Skyrizi a few weeks ago which is a mediation for Crohn’s. The goal is to let the new medication start healing my colon and then hopefully in a few months or so the colostomy can come out and my colon can be reattached. That’s what I am praying for. I have to believe that my body will heal and I’ll be back to some kind of normalcy in the near future.

As you all know, I am a single momma of three beautiful children, but I simply can’t do this alone. I am the only provider for me and my kids and the bills will become too much for me to handle as I’ll be out of work for an undetermined amount of time. Which is why I decided to tuck my head, suck up my pride and ask for help. I understand this economy and the times we are in are very hard. I truly understand if you can’t help financially. I could always use all the prayers, good vibes, thoughts, whatever it is you believe in during this time.
