A COUPLE UPDATES:
This dictated from MEGHAN!
"The outpouring of support that I have received breaks my heart. The kindness people have shown me and my family blows me away. The first week I was pretty out of it and couldn't communicate so, I haven't responded to calls and texts quickly because Jeremy has to help read my lips.
At this point, I'm trying to get to rehab. I can't wait to get back home to be with my kids and give them hugs whenever I want. That's my biggest goal.
I'm so appreciative of all the different groups who have come together: my work, patients, friends from college, high school, and grade school, the PTAs, folks from Bennett and Highland, my family and friends, and even people we don’t know. Thank you for supporting me and my family! I love you all and appreciate your kindness!"

Most Recent Medical Update (graciously written by one of Megs best friends, Crystal, who also is a nurse, thankfully):
Our beloved Megs sustained a life-changing spinal cord injury. This tragic accident resulted in immediate paralysis from her chest down. She was admitted to the Trauma ICU unit at Harborview and had emergent surgery on her C3-C5 vertebra. She also sustained spinal cord damage, spinal shock, scapula fracture, collapsed lungs, concussion and head lacerations.
Meghan was able to breathe on her own for the first week, which the doctors described as a small miracle considering the level of injury. However, as her breathing became more difficult, she ended up needing a ventilator and tracheostomy to rest her diaphragm to allow healing. Over the 2nd week in the Trauma ICU Megs started building her endurance sitting up assisted in a wheelchair. She has fought hard to relearn how to breathe again and to strengthen her diaphragm by weaning off the ventilator.
Spinal cord injuries are complex, life-altering and Meg’s injury is no different. It’s unknown at this time how much function she will regain over the coming weeks, but her recovery potential is directly impacted by her ability to access specialized therapies. She will need physical, occupational, speech, and psychological support.
Megs is a fighter and while the progress is slow and steady the critical time for her recovery is over the next few months. She will be transitioning to the inpatient rehab unit very soon followed by an outpatient rehab center. Her rehab journey will be a marathon not a sprint.
Megs and Jeremy need your prayers and financial support as they continue this journey to get her back home with her family. When that time comes, she will need home modifications, power wheelchair, specialized van, Hoyer lift and much more equipment. The outpouring of love and support surrounding Meghan & Jeremy has been tremendous and they need it more now than ever. Please continue to share this message so we can lessen the financial burden that lies ahead.

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,
If you're blessed to know Meghan, you're one of the lucky ones and I know you'd agree with me. Now is our time to show her how much she means to us.
On May 2nd, our beloved friend was involved in a serious golf cart accident. She sustained fractures to her C3 and C4 vertebrae and has a punctured lung. Right now there's a lot of uncertainty surrounding her injuries, recovery and what the road ahead will look like. She experienced a devastating accident that changed their life forever.
We are working to help normalize their new life, and want to support in all ways we can; this means medical bills and living expenses such as a wheelchair accessible car, remodeling to the home to make it more accessible, round the clock care, all the things that go into make a busy household run....funds for laundry help, cleaners, the list can go on, our goal is to fundraise enough so Jeremy's focus, and the family, is on Meghan improving every day.
Please keep praying for Meghan, sending her all our love and support, she's a fighter and we want to know how deeply loved she is and we're fighting with her, they're not alone, we are with them!
They’ve always been the first to show up for others — now it’s our turn to show up for them.
