Support Meghan Gentry's Battle with Ovarian Cancer

One month ago at the young age of 39, my niece, Meghan Gentry was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Many of you know her and many of you don’t. What you may not know, is that Meghan has dedicated her life and career to helping children. Meg has her masters in social work. She has been working in the school system with children from grade school to high school since completing her degree. In addition to her full time job as a social worker, she is also a foster parent. Meghan has opened her heart and home to many children from diverse backgrounds. She has shown them unconditional love and stability and treated each one as her own for the time that they were with her and has maintained relationships with many whose lives she has touched….And I might add…she made the choice to do this as a single young lady. Meghan would never ask for help. She’s strong and resilient with unwavering faith in God. While she didn’t ask for help (in fact, she specifically told me she doesn’t want people to think she is begging), I think she has earned the help she needs at this time. Meghan is faced with chemotherapy as well as surgery. With the help of family, she continues to foster one child who has been with her for quite some time. Meghan’s insurance just renewed so she has a deductible that must be met which she will rapidly exceed with her treatment. She has continued to work when she can but there will be times when she cannot. Every contribution—large or small—will go directly toward helping Meghan meet the physical, emotional, and financial challenges ahead, while preserving her independence, dignity, and joy.
