Support Megan’s Recovery and Her Boys

Update: Hi everyone! Meg is finally home, well my home not hers. :-). She is very weak and I am giving her antibiotics through her PICC line 4 times a day. I also have to do wound repack and changes as it’s going to be months for her to heal.

Megan found out she only gets paid for 3 weeks so basically she is out of payment for work already. It will be a bit still before she is able to go back to work. As most of you know, she had two jobs and will now only be able to do one. She is not physically able to keep the baby anymore. So that is a huge chunk of income gone, but we are trying to figure things out.

Audrey snd I are assisting as much as we can. She and the boys are living with us until she is able to do for herself. Our house and hearts are full, even if a bit stressed at times. Lol.

As we navigate our new “normal” we want to thank everyone for contributing and for continuing to share this. There may be people out there looking to assist with medical bills, housing bills for her place, and Christmas for the boys. Thanks again for all the prayers and assistance! Much , Dawn, Mom, Nana.

Megan Carpenter is my oldest daughter and the sole provider for her two boys, ages 6 and 15. On November 12th, Megan suffered a massive heart attack that required the placement of two stents. As if that wasn’t enough, she was soon faced with another life-threatening emergency: a flesh-eating bacteria infection that led to extensive abdominal surgery to remove necrotizing tissue in her abdomen and groin area. Megan has been in the intensive care unit since then, fighting for her life and enduring a complicated recovery due to the blood thinners she must take for her heart.

Before her hospitalization, Megan worked two jobs, often from 4:30 am to 11:00 pm, just to make ends meet and provide for her boys. She always puts others first, and her kindness is often taken advantage of, but she never complains. Now, she is unable to work either job, and when she is finally released from the hospital, her heart condition will prevent her from returning to her second job permanently. The financial strain is overwhelming, and the bills are already starting to pile up.

The funds raised will help Megan pay her rent, utilities, and buy food for her and her boys while she recovers. If we are able to raise enough, I hope to find a used car for her, as she currently has no transportation to get to doctor visits, school events, or even the grocery store. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing Megan’s story so that others might be able to help. Every bit of support means the world to our family as we navigate this incredibly difficult time.
