Hi everybody,
My name is Daniel and I'm trying to raise money to help my partner, Megan, with a medical expense.
Megan is a Graduate Program Coordinator at USU. Her work entails helping graduate students to accomplish their goals and assisting in other vital tasks behind the scenes in her department.
However, Megan has been struggling for several years now with an undiagnosed ailment. An apparently undiagnosable ailment, which has left her struggling to cope with daily life and tasks. For Megan, her work - ensuring that graduate program students accomplish their dreams - has been paramount. But she has also poured what remaining energy she has into trying to find a solution.
This is taking a big toll and we would both like to figure this out so that she can have a more fulfilling life.
Over the past several years, Megan has been to see specialists effectively across the gamut. We've seen university doctors from The U, we've tried countless tests which have come back inconclusive. We've applied for and failed to gain access to help from The Mayo Clinic and elsewhere.
Summarily, whatever it is that Megan is struggling with, we've exhausted both our financial and the traditional medical resources. The doctors we've seen are at a loss and still her symptoms are causing her to slip through the cracks. And for a long time, we didn't even know where to begin looking for help because the doctors don't know where to send us either.
With that said, Megan recently discovered that there are companies who will do genetic sequencing to search for ailments. However, the process is expensive for us on our income. We are both already very deep in medical debt. The pay we receive does cover our expenses but doesn't leave this kind of extra money. We haven't been able to reestablish savings, following an issue we ran into with housing a few months ago.
I started this fund to try and cover at least some of the cost in search for answers for Megan so that she can both continue being "The Light of Old Main" (an award she was given last year at USU) and so that she can hopefully find a way to return to some normalcy outside of work. The anxiety of not knowing what's going on is beginning to present its own challenges as well. It simply isn't sustainable and we need your help to try something different.
Thank you for considering a contribution to this fund. Every little bit helps.
