Hi, my name is Megan Lowe and I’m reaching out during a stressful and uncertain moment for my husband and me.
We currently live in a rental home that our landlord has informed us will be put on the market in the next 3–4 months. Because we are on a month-to-month lease, we were facing the very real possibility of losing our home.
After many difficult conversations and a lot of worry, our landlord agreed to let us purchase the home we already live in. This would allow us to stay in place, avoid displacement, and finally have stability.
We have already started the home buying process. The only thing standing in our way is the down payment, which is estimated to be around $2,400.
We are a single income household. My husband works full time, and due to my mental health, I am currently unable to work. Like many families, we do not have savings set aside, and this opportunity came up faster than we could prepare for.
We are also caring for multiple cats, which makes finding alternative housing extremely difficult and expensive. Being able to purchase this home would prevent relocation costs, pet related barriers, and the risk of housing instability.
Funds raised will go toward:
The down payment on the home
Closing related expenses
Any remaining costs required to finalize the purchase
We’ve set a modest goal of $5,000 to give us a small buffer and ensure we can complete the process without falling short.
Any amount truly helps. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser means just as much to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for helping us hold onto the place we already call home.
