Bridge to Recovery: Urgent Support for Megan Post-Stroke
This campaign is an urgent appeal to provide essential financial stability for Megan as she faces a critical gap in support just two months into her recovery from a stroke.
The Critical Timeline
On 9/3 Megan suffered a stroke. She is currently deep into the initial stages of rehabilitation, working with therapists to regain movement and cognitive function. This phase—the first three to six months—is crucial for maximizing her long-term recovery (neuroplasticity).
She has been utilizing her 12 weeks of PFMLA (Paid Family and Medical Leave), which is set to expire soon. This leaves her in a vulnerable position: her primary financial support ends just as her intensive recovery needs continue.
We are raising funds to create a stable, secure environment for the next 4 months to allow her to focus solely on healing, without the anxiety of losing housing or healthcare.
The Funding Goal: Stability = Recovery
The goal of $12,000 represents the minimum funds needed to ensure Megan has a safe home and uninterrupted medical care as she continues her therapy.
This is not about replacing income indefinitely; it is a critical bridge funding needed during the most intensive and vulnerable phase of stroke recovery.
Why Stability Matters Now
The most significant gains in stroke recovery occur in these early months. Stress, financial worry, and disruption can severely impede neurological progress. By reaching this goal, we ensure Megan has the peace of mind to dedicate all her energy to her physical and occupational therapy.
Every dollar goes directly toward maintaining the safety and health required for her to reclaim her independence and eventually return to her passions, including her work as a chef.
