I’m writing this on behalf of my friend, Megan King—a woman whose life is a true testament to strength in the middle of unimaginable suffering.

Megan has been battling Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS) for years, enduring constant pain, countless procedures, and more than 30 surgeries. Her condition led to a rare and life-threatening complication—her skull became unstable from her spine. In a miraculous, life-saving surgery, doctors fused her skull to her spine, leaving her unable to move her head or neck.

And yet… her faith has never wavered.

Through every setback, every hospital stay, every painful day—Megan continues to trust God and share hope with others through her ministry, The Traveling Halo of Hope. She is a light in so many lives, even as she walks through her own valley.

Why This Is Urgent

Right now, Megan needs help.

Her medical journey is far from over, and the financial burden has become overwhelming. She is facing ongoing treatments, specialized care, and essential daily support—and the costs are rising quickly.

My name is Megan King.

I’ve been blessed with the most hardworking, selfless parents. Even at 36 years old, they’ve never left my side through this 20-year medical journey and 38 surgeries.

In 2011, my mom stopped working to become my full-time caregiver. She wasn’t paid for this. My dad has carried the full financial weight for our family ever since.

After 20 years of overwhelming medical expenses… we are running out of options.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. This season is changing quickly, and it feels like trying to stay afloat with too much to carry.

There are currently just three payments alone totaling $15,000 every month—that’s $180,000 a year, and that doesn’t include everything else.

This journey has already cost us our home, my parents’ retirement, and any sense of financial security.

And now, we’ve learned I need another spinal surgery.

My spine is already fused from my skull to my pelvis, and neurosurgeons at the Mayo Clinic are still determining the safest path forward. The thought of another surgery is incredibly hard to process.

But even in the fear, I’m holding onto this truth:

God has been faithful before—and I believe He will be again.

He made a way when there was no way. He saved my life when my neck broke. He reversed paralysis. He has carried me through every moment.

And I believe He’s still writing this story.”
