On June 6, 2025, I was asked if I'd like to take a barely 3-week-old kitten home that was found on the side of the highway.
We had been looking for a friend for my calico, Callie, and Meep was exactly what we had been looking for.
Legally, her name is Lobotomeep. She's energetic, playful, loves car rides, and making new friends.
Recently, Meep lost her playful spirit. She stopped eating, started vomiting consistently with diarrhea. Once she stopped showing any interest in food or her favorite toy, I knew it was serious. I took her to an emergency vet, but the tests they needed to run were extremely expensive. They gave her medication for nausea and some fluids to help her feel better until I could get her into her vet.
The next morning, the vet ran X-rays looking for intestinal blockage and took blood for testing. They did not find any blockage. Her blood work showed that she was severely dehydrated, had an infection, and she was running a fever.
Meep has been hospitalized since New Year's Eve day to receive fluids, meds, and to be closely monitored by the vet. They call with updates as they are able. She has been in their care for over 24 hours and still has not eaten on her own.
The estimated cost of treatment is already extremely high, but if she doesn't start responding to treatment, they could get higher and she may need surgery to find why she is so sick.
