Dear friends and family,
I hope you’re all doing well. I never imagined finding myself in this position, but life has taken an unexpected turn, and I’m reaching out for help. Last week, I was laid off from my job—an already difficult situation—and though I’m trying to stay positive, our beloved cat Meeko was rushed to the hospital due to a severe bladder blockage.
They believe there to be some sort of tear causing fluid to accumulate in his abdomen, and he now requires constant monitoring by a nurse because his condition is still unstable.
With mounting medical bills and no stable income right now, we’re in a tough spot. Meeko is more than just a pet; he’s our baby, and we want to do everything we can to make sure he pulls through. If you’re in a position to help, any contribution—no matter how small—would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and any support you can offer. Please keep Meeko in your thoughts as we navigate this difficult time.
Update: We received a call with some relatively good news. Initially, they suspected a bladder rupture due to the amount of fluid in the abdomen, but they now believe it to be a urethral tear instead. What was originally expected to be a $10k-13K surgery on top of the $7k in medical expenses, it will likely only require an additional $2-3K in inpatient care for a week. They successfully placed a urethral catheter. Now, they just need to monitor the healing process. The surgeon is being consulted to confirm the plan but wanted to thank everyone so far for their continued support.
With gratitude,
Leah, Peter, and Emma
