Children in Vietnam needing corrective heart surgery
Tax deductible
For more than a decade, MEDRIX has sponsored life-saving heart surgeries for more than 300 Vietnamese children – children from families living below-the-poverty-line who could not afford the cost of the surgery on their own.
Surgeries are performed by well-qualified Vietnamese surgeons in well-equipped surgery suites in Vietnamese hospitals using state-of-the art equipment.
But the gap between life-saving medical care and the family’s financial resources is a problem that must be overcome.
MEDRIX has the connections and relationships to make the necessary arrangements for the heart surgeries – but we need your donations to help bridge the financial gap.
Here are stories of two of the children needing heart surgery who came to MEDRIX’s attention in June, 2025.
1. Khanh Linh is the first child of the family. Her mother is a housewife; her father is a motorbike repairman. The income of the family is 4,000,000 VND ($150) per month. They could not afford the surgery but, with MEDRIX’s promise to pay, Linh’s surgery was completed on June 30.
2. One newborn baby boy did not yet have a name. The father is a barber. Each month the father earns 5 million VND ($200) to support the family of 4 people. Note: Some families follow an older Vietnamese custom of allowing the baby to remain unnamed until the family feels confident about the child’s survival.
The MEDRIX Heart Surgery Fund is currently running low. If you’re able to help support this life-saving outreach for children from low-income families, we will promptly apply 100% of your donation to benefit a child waiting for surgery.
