Mi nombre es María Del Mar, soy residente de medicina de tercer año (ultimo año) en un hospital comunitario en NYC. Durante las últimas semanas he visto de muy cerca los devastadores efectos de coronavirus (COVID-19). Más aún he vivido lo que está situación en los médicos, en mi y mis compañeros. La impotencia, la tristeza, el estrés, la ansiedad de no poder salvar a nuestros pacientes, ya sea por el inminente colapso del sistema de salud o por el avance drástico y rápido del virus.
Es por todo esto que he visto lo importante que es mantener el espíritu de los jóvenes médicos, quienes somos la primera línea, somos quienes estamos trabajando más de 12 horas diarias para suplir las necesidades del hospital y el efecto que esto tiene en nuestra vida personal. Por eso cree este go fund me, para recaudar fondos para apoyar a mis más de 100 compañeros en cosas pequeñas, como café, scrubs, snacks, PPE (equipo de protección) que puede que para la mayoría sean insignificante pero cuando pasas tantas horas en el hospital pueden fácilmente cambiar la situación emocional de muchos

My name is Maria Del Mar, I am third year medical resident (last year) in a communitarian hospital in NYC. For the last few weeks I’ve seen the dramatic and devastating effect that coronavirus (COVID-19) has had in the community. Moreover, I’ve closely lived the impotence, sadness, stress and anxiety of not being able to save our patients, either because of the imminent collapse of the healthcare system or the quick, unexpected effects of the virus.
It’s because of all of this that I’ve seen the importance of keeping up then spirit of young doctors, who are the frontline, who are the ones that work 12 hours, more than 6 times a week to supply the needs of overwhelmed hospitals. This is why I created this go fund me, to raise funds for more than 100 of my colleagues, for small details like daily coffee, snacks, scrubs, PPE, that for most might sound innocuous, but the reality is that it makes a huge difference when you’ve been in the hospital for endless hours.
