R* lived in the United States for 18 years with his wife and children. He was known for being hardworking and for showing up for his family and loved ones every day. His family also mentions his love for taking care of animals in the street, going as far as adopting a puppy he found.
That life was taken from him when he was taken by ICE and deported to Mexico.
Separated from his wife and kids, R made the difficult decision to try to return to them. He just wanted to be back with his family.
R fell from the border wall and suffered serious injuries. When Border Patrol agents arrived, he was on the ground in severe pain and unable to move. He asked for help and begged for an ambulance. It was only after they turned him over and saw how badly he was injured that they eventually called for help.
His injuries were extremely severe, leaving him still dealing with the aftermath. After everything he went through, R was sent back to Mexico again. Injured, now in a wheelchair, and with nowhere stable to go, R is trying to recover in difficult conditions. He is still far away from his family and without the support he needs.
His wife and children are doing everything they can to help him, but they are overwhelmed as they are also dealing with illnesses and financial hardship.
