£500 raised of

Support Medical Outreach in Rural Tanzania

We are Beheshta, Iza, Amarachi, Khadija and Rafiah, a group of final year medical students at the University of Oxford. As part of our medical elective we will be travelling to Tanzania and embarking on a medical outreach mission with Tanzania Health Opportunities (THO) in June.

THO is a registered NGO that has been operating since 2020. Their mission is to increase access to quality healthcare for underserved communities, and to prevent disease. They regularly set up medical outreach camps across rural Tanzania and offer services free of charge to patients who otherwise have no access to a doctor or hospital facilities. Their support includes:

  • General health checks
  • Disease screening for diabetes, HIV, malaria and more
  • Eye screening and dental check-ups
  • Providing medication and supplies
  • Health education

The camp requires approximately £1500 to offer healthcare to over 500 individuals in a day. All donations will be transferred directly to THO and will support operational costs including for medical supplies and setting up the clinic. We will evidence this transfer in our updates! No funds raised will be used for our personal expenses.

As participating medical students we will be present at the outreach camp and witness first-hand the direct impact of your donations.

More information about previous camps can be found here: https://www.thopportunities.org/medical-missions/

Thank you for your support! :)
