Nayelie’s journey began with relentless migraines that left her struggling to find relief and unable to work. Despite frequent trips to the emergency room, her symptoms were often dismissed as stress-related. It wasn't until symptoms became so severe during her last visit to the ER that the gravity of her condition became apparent. Rushed to NYU Hospital by ambulance, an initial CT scan revealed a sizable brain mass, followed by an MRI that confirmed the tumor. Shocked and devastated, Nayelie received further news that an approach to a biopsy and radiation therapy to manage the tumor will be needed before a surgery is possible. The brain tumor, which is located near critical nerves and glands poses risks of blindness, seizures, hormonal changes, and more life altering symptoms. Despite the challenges ahead, Nayelie remains hopeful and determined as she continues her fight against the tumor.
