Support Media Training for Gospel Outreach

It was 12 years ago that I was asked to come to teach in Bulgaria with Media Alliance. I had never been asked to teach. I was being asked to teach TV production techniques to a group of media ministry people, many of which were just volunteers at their tiny churches or had no affiliation at all, just a desire to spread the Gospel through media. And they wanted to know how we were doing it at In Touch. Even though I was fairly confident that I understood my craft well enough at this point, I was unsure I would be a very effective teacher. I was also going to be teaching through an interpreter which would be quite a new experience. But I would not be teaching alone. John McKinnon, my closest friend and easily one of the best television people I had ever been around was going and teaching with me. We decided to have everyone produce a commercial about a sponge. But not just any sponge, a bright orange sponge with dreadlocks. It was a great time as John and I both grew as teachers and our love for the Balkin people grew. We began to realize just how powerful our words and what we taught was. And how it was playing a part in how the Gospel was and is being spread throughout the world. Since this first trip, I have had the privilege to travel with Media Alliance on 5 other trips to teach. Bangalore and Kolkata India for 3 trips and Kiev for the other 2. And now I have been invited to return to the Balkins in September to help share any knowledge I may have on how to leverage media to spread the Gospel. And it will be in Albania this time and I hear some of my friends that I met 12 years may be there as well. But I need some assistance this time to cover airfare, video equipment rentals in country for teaching purposes, airport parking and travel expenses to and from Albania. I believe that what we are doing is making a difference in the quality and therefore the effectiveness of the media that the ministries are distributing.
