Hello we are a youth organization called MECHA. We’re from a community college in the Central Valley. Our mission as an youth organization is to encourage respect, dignity, justice, and equality for all marginalized groups in our community nationally and internationally.
We are fundraising in hopes of being able to send at least 5 mechistas students to this years
annual MECHA national conference ! which will be hosted at Eugene, Oregon.
This years conference theme revolves around expanding to more Latin American cultures as well as fostering an inclusive environment that welcomes individuals of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
Attending the conference will not only empower students to become more active as MECHA club leaders and even role models, but as well as building long lasting bonds within our club.
Being able to take the incredible knowledge and experiences from the MECHA National conference, we are able to take with us throughout our journey into pursuing higher education. Students will continue the club work, providing culturally, relevant and equity-oriented activities and opportunities to COS students in the community as a whole. In fact after our attendance of last year‘s MECHAS National conference we were able to partner with an ethnic studies faculty and we were able to create a Latinx conference here at our very own COS campus. From everything we learned from the MECHA National conference, we were able to take away and bring back to our campus and give back to our communities with the knowledge that we gained.
We plan on using these funds for hotel cost and gas coverage. As well as having a small food voucher to help accommodate our members !
Please donate or share in hopes of being able to reach our goal, and successfully send 5 mechistas to nationals this year. Thank you in advance - from the MECHA club
