Help Meatball Recover From His Hernia Surgery

Our 4-year-old Pit Bull, Meatball, has been through a lot.

Meatball developed a serious perineal hernia that was making it difficult for him to go to the bathroom. We knew he needed help, but finding a veterinarian who could perform the surgery became much harder than we expected.

We took Meatball from vet to vet trying to get him the care he needed. One veterinarian confirmed the perineal hernia but could not perform the repair. Another referred us to Madison Veterinary Specialists.

As Meatball continued struggling and straining, we didn't want to keep putting off the care he needed.

We finally got Meatball to Madison Veterinary Specialists, where he received his perineal hernia repair and the medical care that went along with it.

His bill at Madison Veterinary Specialists alone came to $4,336.

We have increased Meatball's fundraiser goal to $5,000 because that surgery bill does not include the other veterinary visits and expenses we had while trying to get him diagnosed, referred, and into the hands of a veterinarian who could perform the surgery.

We made the decision to get Meatball treated rather than delay his care because of the cost. Now we're asking for help recovering some of those expenses while Meatball heals.

We're sharing a redacted copy of his surgical invoice so donors can see the cost of his care.

Our $5,000 goal will help cover:

- Meatball's $4,336 surgical and hospital bill

- His earlier veterinary visits related to the hernia

- Other veterinary expenses associated with getting him the treatment he needed
