On March 19, 2024, a frightening incident shook Meah Poret's world when her car unexpectedly caught fire on the campus of Xavier University. Meah, a dedicated second-year undergraduate student at Xavier University and an essential member of the New Orleans dance community, relies heavily on her vehicle to navigate her busy life. As a commuter student, her car is not just a mode of transportation but a lifeline to her education, her passion for dance, and her commitment to community service.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Meah dedicates her time to various dance organizations, including Young Audiences, and volunteers tirelessly on weekends to uplift and better her community. However, the sudden and traumatic event of her car fire has left her in a precarious situation. With only liability insurance on her vehicle, Meah is left without coverage for a replacement, adding financial strain to an already challenging time.
Thankfully, Meah emerged physically unscathed from the ordeal, but the emotional toll and the practical challenges ahead are significant. That's why we're reaching out to our community, both near and far, to rally behind Meah in her time of need.
Your support can make a world of difference to Meah as she works to rebuild her commuter lifeline and continue her pursuit of education, dance, and community service. Whether you're a family member, friend, colleague, or simply someone touched by Meah's story, your contribution, no matter how small, will go a long way in helping her overcome this setback.
Let's come together to support Meah Poret, a bright and resilient young woman who embodies the spirit of determination and community. Thank you for your generosity and kindness.
